Turlock City Attorney George Petrulakis Announces End of Tenure

Mayor Amy Bublak thanked Petrulakis for his contributions to the City:

"George has been a trusted advisor, providing wise counsel to both the Council and our City staff. His guidance has helped Turlock remain one of the best places to live in California."

Petrulakis noted, "When I took on the role, I made a commitment to the Mayor and City Council to stabilize the City Attorney's Office, but also to evaluate the future needs of the City as to its legal services needs. Those are complete, so it's time to return my undivided focus to my land use and real estate practice."

Bublak added that when Petrulakis started his role as contract City Attorney, "the city was facing the Covid crisis and large homelessness encampments. George astutely worked us through those issues legally and a myriad of others since." She cited his work with the City's public safety leaders to strengthen ordinances addressing crime and homelessness, and with City engineers to help launch the successful Turlock Roads Program and keep it on track.

Petrulakis reflected on his service:

"It has been an honor to serve Turlock and work alongside so many dedicated public servants. I am proud of what we accomplished together and confident the city will continue to thrive. It's a great city with great people."
