The Turlock Fire Department is excited to announce the installation of our new vertical ventilation training prop which was built and assembled by FireVent, LLC. - Firefighter Training Equipment.

This project was funded with pre-designated capital facility funds as well as Grant funding from MJC Regional Fire Training Center.

This was nearly a year long process of designing and finding a training prop that would integrate well with our Live Fire Training Structure and offer firefighters versatile and realistic training scenarios. During a structure fire, firefighters will often cut a hole in the roof to act as a chimney to release smoke and hot gases in order to make conditions better for trapped victims and fire operations.

Turlock Firefighters responded to several Vegetation Fires in the Area of W. Linwood and S. Tegner yesterday afternoon.

The cause of the fires were determined to be due to the use of a cutting torch near dry grass.

The Turlock Fire Department would like to remind the community to use caution when operating around dry vegetation and take the necessary precautions to avoid causing a fire now that warmer and drier conditions have arrived.
