PRESS RELEASE: FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION On Thursday, July 29, 2021, at approximately 10:37 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the loading dock in the 3000 block of Geer Road. Officers responded to the scene and discovered a male, who was believed to be sleeping, had been run over by the tires of a delivery vehicle that was in the process of backing into the loading dock of the business. Members of the Turlock Fire Department performed life saving measures on scene and the male was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital. Despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The uninjured driver of the delivery vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The identity of the deceased male is not being released until he can be positively identified and next of kin notified. The Turlock Police Department does not suspect that speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. Our hearts go out to the Kern County Sheriff's Office and to the family of Deputy Campas who was killed in the line of duty yesterday, July 25, 2021. Kern County Sheriff's Office July 26 at 9:20 PM The Kern County Sheriff's Office is saddened to report Deputy Phillip Campas was shot and killed on July 25, 2021 while serving as a SWAT operator attempting to rescue three shooting victims inside of a residence in Wasco, CA. Deputy Campas was a five-year veteran with the Kern County Sheriff's Office and previously served as a United States Marine. Deputy Campas had various assignments throughout his time at KCSO, including patrol deputy, SWAT team member, recruit training officer, and assistant range master. Our prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time, as well as our grieving community. This a tremendous loss for Kern County, as Deputy Campas was a star among KCSO. He will never be forgotten and will live on through our deputies who continue to serve in his memory. PRESS RELEASE: Two Victims Shot at Local Bar On Monday, July 26, 2021, at 1:51 am, the Turlock Police Department received calls that someone had been shot at a local bar in the 100 block of West Main Street in downtown Turlock. Multiple officers responded to the area. As an officer was approaching the back parking lot of the business, they were flagged down by someone who was with one of the victims. The victim had at least one gunshot wound and was seated in a vehicle parked in a nearby parking lot. The officer was able to provide medical aid to the victim until an ambulance and the Fire Department arrived to transport the victim to a local hospital. A second gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital on their own. Preliminary reports state that the extent of both injuries are not life threatening. Officers are still actively investigating this case to gather additional information. Any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident is encouraged to call Turlock Police Officer Henry Hernandez at (209) 668-6534. ### The Turlock Police Department is an active participant in the Crime Stoppers Program.
