Thursday, October 13, 2022PRESS RELEASE: Hit and Run Suspect Arrested; Involved Vehicle Located
On October 13, 2022, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the driver involved in Tuesday afternoons fatal hit and run collision walked into the Turlock Police Department to turn himself in. The driver has been identified as Armando Michael Arreola, a 25-year-old Turlock resident.
The 83-year-old victim has been identified as Santiago Estrada-Gonzalez and is now confirmed to have resided in Delhi.
Arreola was interviewed by Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) Investigators at the Turlock Police Department. The interview led Investigators to the whereabouts of the involved white 2004 Acura TL. At the request of M.A.I.T. Investigators, officers with the Modesto Police Department responded to a residential area in the 600 block of East Coolidge Avenue, in Modesto, and recovered the vehicle. The Acura has since been transported to the Turlock Police Department where it will be processed for evidence associated to the fatal hit and run crime.
At the conclusion of the interview with M.A.I.T. Investigators, Arreola was transported the Stanislaus County Jail to be booked on charges of manslaughter and felony hit and run charges. He remains in custody in lieu of a bail of 25,000 dollars.
Acting Captain Russel Holeman said, “The investigation into this incident is not over with the arrest of Arreola and the recovery of the involved vehicle. The Traffic Safety Unit will be serving additional search warrants and will continue their work to gather evidence to solidify this investigation. We offer our sincere condolences to Santiago’s family during their time of loss.”
