Solid Waste and Recycling
The City of Turlock contracts with Turlock Scavenger for the collection and disposal of solid waste. Turlock Scavenger introduced automated waste hauling to our city and pioneered the three cart collection system. The three cart system, which includes a blue can for commingled (non-sorted) recyclables, has assisted our efforts to comply with State of California mandates to reduce the amount of solid waste that is buried of in landfills.
Garbage containers
Turlock Scavenger provides three roll out containers to each resident of Turlock. A charcoal grey 32 gallon container for garbage, a blue 68 gallon container for co-mingled recyclables, and a green 95 gallon container for yard waste. Multiple unit residences receive one green 95 gallon garden refuse container for the complex. These containers are picked up once per week on assigned routes. Citizens are encouraged to embrace the "recycling habit" and actively participate in helping the City to meet its waste diversion goals.
All calls regarding garbage service should be made directly to the Turlock Scavenger Company at (209) 668-7274.
For your convenience larger capacity gray refuse (household garbage) containers are available at an additional cost. 64 gallon and 96 gallon refuse containers can be ordered by contacting the Turlock Scavenger Company at (209) 668-7274.

Landfills
State Law mandated that the City of Turlock divert a minimum of 50% of solid waste from the Fink Road landfill. Through the active cooperation of Turlock citizens, the City of Turlock and, Turlock Scavenger, this goal has been met and exceeded. The consequence of these aggressive recycling/diversion activities is conservation of available landfill capacity and of equal importance, recycling/ re-use of natural resources that would otherwise be buried or burned. Also, the City avoids potential stiff fines for non-compliance with AB 939 regulations.
